‘Don’t go cold turkey‘ to quit smoking
E-cigarettes remain the nation’s favourite stop smoking aid – with an estimated 3.2 million users, most of whom are former smokers.
One of those is TV presenter Jeremy Kyle, who has given up after 35 years of smoking, using e-cigarettes.
“I was a 20-a-day smoker for most of my life and am proud to say I quit smoking earlier this year,” he said.
“Since quitting I’ve learned just how important using support is and for people not to go ‘cold turkey‘.”

By now you’ve probably understood that the text above has nothing to do with that big bird Americans and Canadians enjoy eating for Thanksgiving, or on Christmas Day in some other countries.
If you are addicted to something which is bad for you health (drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, even chocolate or soft drinks) and you decide to stop taking it from one day to the next, then you are giving up cold turkey.
Have you got an experience of quitting cold turkey? Write in and tell me about it.
After you’ve written in, enjoy this John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band song. It’s all about John and Yoko’s experience when they tried to quit their heroin addiction cold turkey.

I think I never had a “cold turkey”, because when I have a problem with some drugs I always decided stop little by little. I always tried to have a good relationship with them. Its true that I never used heroin!! Cool song!!
